I've been crocheting since grandmother taught me at age 8.
I enjoy working with all fibers but do have a special fondness for thread and light weight yarns. I can't deny the instant gratification of working up a quick project with bulky yarns either! I learned to knit about 10 years ago and do enjoy finally being able to cypher basic knit patterns. It's great to know I am expanding and learning new things.
My newest interest is designing. All these years 'making things up', it never occurred to me "I was designing" all along. I don't know how far I will go with it but I am enjoying the creativity of it all.
Teaching has also become a special part of this creative outlet for me as well. I love seeing that moment when the student realizes - they got it! Carrying on a craft and tradition is very important, we are all teachers in some aspect.
I am a member of the Crochet Guild of America and have been lucky to attended a few of the CGOA conferences. I am an active member in my guild group: Off The Hook Crochet. I can also be found on Ravelry as CoziCrafts.
Currently I am working on expanding my expertise and knowledge of all crochet stitches and techniques and have started teaching crochet. Thanks for stopping by and reading about my journey. Contact me and tell about how crochet has touched or is a part of your everyday life.
I rarely remember a time when grandma didn't have a crochet hook in hand. Seems she was always working on some wonderful project. My special treasure is a table cloth she made for me many many years ago. The afghan she gave me when I was in high school is still around and in use.
